Another Brief Updates — Quests and Bug Fixes


Welcome to another Warriors: Apprenticeship update! 

Most recently, I have added 4 quests to the game, which grant renown upon completion. These 4 quests are tied into the core mechanics of the game — hunting, gathering, fighting, and dialogue — with 1 quest relating to each. As an apprentice, you will still be dependent on your core daily tasks to gain renown, but these quests will boost your renown progression significantly. One quest even has a cost/benefits analysis to be performed — dare you go into enemy territory to gather herbs quickly, or will you wait for them to grow in your own territory?

But that's enough about the quests for now — I don't want to spoil too much of their content. In other news, I fixed one of the bugs that was plaguing the game! So, previously rigidbodies would get stuck on the seams of the tilemap collider. Swapping to a composite collider fixed the issue, but for some reason it made jumping impossible — the character never registered as landing. Thankfully, I found a quick fix online — swapping the geometry type setting from outline to polygons. Like many issues I have in Unity, I feel like the answer is pretty random compared to the problem I'm having, but hey, I'm glad I found a solution.

That's all for now! Now that all of my planned mechanics are in place, I just need a way to save and load progress in the game and we'll be ready to release! I am so excited to bring this game to you.
